Jason Earles was born in San Diego, California, but moved with his family to different states, including Ohio and Oregon, before settling in Montana. He attended Glencoe High School in Hillsboro, Oregon, and later graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Montana in 2000.

Following Hannah Montana, he starred as Rudy Gillespie in Kickin' It (2011–2015), a Disney XD comedy about a martial arts dojo. In addition to acting, he has directed several episodes of Disney Channel shows and served as an acting coach for young actors.

His film credits include National Treasure (2004), American Pie Presents: Band Camp (2005), and Super Buddies (2013). He has also voiced characters in animated projects.
