Rob Mariano known by the nickname Boston Rob, is an American television personality, known for appearing in the CBS reality show Survivor.

Early Life and Family Background

Rob Mariano was raised in Canton, Massachusetts, in a family of Italian descent. He attended Xaverian Brothers High School, graduating in 1994, where he was actively involved in golf and hockey. His passion for sports continued at Boston University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1999. During his freshman year in 1995, he made the university’s hockey team but chose not to play after learning he would receive limited ice time. Instead, he focused on coaching, eventually becoming the head coach for Boston University’s hockey team. This early involvement in sports and leadership roles honed his competitive spirit and strategic thinking, traits that would later define his reality TV persona.

Mariano’s foray into reality television began in 2002 when he joined the cast of “Survivor: Marquesas,” the show’s fourth season. He returned for “Survivor: All-Stars” in 2004, where he finished as the runner-up and, notably, began a relationship with fellow contestant Amber Brkich. Their romance culminated in a live proposal during the show’s finale.
