Sebastian Stan is a Romanian–American actor. He gained recognition for his role as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe media franchise beginning with the film Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and including the Disney+ miniseries The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).

Stan was born in Constanța, Romanian SR. He was named by his pianist mother after the composer Johann Sebastian Bach. His parents divorced when he was two years old. When he was eight, he and his mother, Georgeta Orlovschi, moved to Vienna, Austria, where she was employed as a pianist, following the Fall of Communism in 1989. Four years later, they moved to Rockland County, New York, after his mother married the headmaster of a school in the United States. He was raised in the Romanian Orthodox Church.
